Evening courses, are they worth it

    Are evening courses worth it?

    I'm thinking about doing an evening course. But what do employers think of them?

    Do they help someone get work or are they a waste of time?

    Im currently doing an internship. But im a glorified cleaner. I took it in the hope of a position coming up within the place.

    But i also need work. I need paid work.

    What do i do? I spent years locked up in a factory. I went back to college where the qualification i undertook and you have to be a people's person. But really i have very little experience with people, dealing with the public etc. Im not shy, i do make small talk in shops.

    Would a reception course be helpful. I realise it won't help me be a people's person. But it may give me the confidence to work at a desk.

    I did an evening course and I have a full time job out of it.

    I think it's well worth it personally.

    Have you looked into spring board? That's how I did mind.

    If an employer sees that you made the commitment to to your studies on top of you main employment it can only go for you in an interview.

    I started work as a trainee cad technician, company sent me to DIT at night for 5 years to get my BEng in Structural Engineering and I went on and done a post grad in Fire Safety Engineering at night in TCD and any interview I went for it was complimented on my commitment.

    My opinion, deffo worthwhile, as long as it's something you enjoy and related to your career path.
