Just been announced by GB racing that Aidan and Joseph O'Brien will move to Kilkenny (Aidan's father in laws stable) and train horses for JP McManus, majority jump horses.
Joseph retiring from riding completely at end of season.

Big news that's been coming for a while!

Edit: Aidan not leaving ballydoyle (not yet anyways) but big development unfolding with him and JP

The NH horses are already based in Piltown, the big news is Joseph retiring to be more hands on with the training of those. Aidan is going nowhere.

There's been big rumors that Aidan was leaving ballydoyle. Arguments with coolmore etc. Thread was started a while back.

Reality wins out in the end, as Pat Keane summed it up, John Magnier is the boss and whilst he would have realised that he might come across another champion sire, he would never come across another Aidan O'Brien

Apparently the problem was one of the lads ie Tabor was not happy with JOB riding the star horses in the big races - O'Briens were getting the hump and were set to leg it back to Piltown

better solution for all when everything is considered - JOB won't have an endless struggle with the weight, BJ won't have to make many trips across the water given that JP will develop a serious operation in Piltown and Annemarie and Aidan will continue to work the magic at Ballydoyle

Might there be a job for Nina with Joseph in Piltown? They'd be an interesting combination for me

Willie Mullins has trained a few of JP's horses

    Jarry D'Honneur
    Florishwells D'Ete
    Alvisio Ville (as mentioned)
    Upsie
    City Slicker

It's not JP's style to tie his expansive string down to a single stable, he prefers to spread them around, which makes him such a good owner and crucial to many smaller training yards.

Also when we are on the subject - a pro tip: Follow Aidan O Briens bumper horses - this season to date he is operating with a 55% strike rate in bumpers and is +17.45 on level stakes. (12 winners from 22 runners) Avoid his chasers (no wins last season, only one this calender year)

    Best of luck,

    Clunks.

I wonder what the future holds for Jackdaws Castle? Will there be a bigger emphasis on Irish racing for JP now that there is no AP chasing winners on a Monday and Tuesday at Plumpton?

The fact that the number of horses trained by the O'Brien's for JP has risen exponentially over the last 18 months looks significant also.
