Waste Water

    Need some help.

Is Irish water responsible for waste water / Sewage from private houses... Been trying to contact someone with them as the local office of Cork County Council told me, they no longer have anything to do with it.

Need to find out from them, what details are involved, paperwork, permission, cost, etc, with replacing an old sewer pipe (over 40 years old) from one private house back onto the sewer network.

    Thanks

    Hi DjMidas,

    Thank you for your query.

Irish Water is responsible for the maintenance of both the public water and wastewater infrastructure.

In order to reconnect to the sewer network you will need to apply for a new connection. You can begin your application to reconnect to the wastewater infrastructure by clicking here.

The process involves submitting a form to your Local Authority, in this case Cork County Council, who will process you application form and then submit this information to Irish Water. Once Irish Water receives this information we will issue the applicant with an offer letter, detailing the cost of the new connection.

The cost of a new connection varies on the work that needs to be carried out; as such I could not advise at this time how much the reconnection would cost with the assessment work being carried out first.

I hop you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact us should you have any other queries.

    Kind regards,
