Hi (and apologies in advance to the mods if this is the incorrect forum),

Just curious - with amazon hiring more staff in Ireland and all the rumours of amazon opening here soon, does anyone have any solid information if Prime will be available to Irish customers legally/as a plug and play service (rather than all the jiggery pokery of DNS shenanigans etc)?

Nothing firm, as far as I'm aware. Not sure if there's a reluctance to embrace Ireland in general owing to its size, or something. You used to be unable to purchase Kindle books from the UK store, as an Irish customer, but that restriction is long gone now, so perhaps Prime will come in time.

I guess this topic popped up again around the time Jeremy Clarkson and co. were signed to Amazon. Talking to someone on a UK forum, he was very surprised it's not available here.

Random thought....will Brexit increase the likelihood of an Amazon prime Eire starting up???

I doubt we have the density.

A higher-level rep told me that Amazon is continually looking for ways to make the shipping-to-Ireland part of Prime pay, but the numbers never work out to an acceptable figure that they can agree on.

I get that on one level, but it's not like their total business isn't making money here. It seems very unfair that you can offer this service to part of your customer base, and not others.

Extra: I could watch anything "illegally", but I'd actually prefer a reliable and fully legal system.
