Job I went for is re-advertised

I interviewed for a job last week, thought it went well, and I would love to get the job. I have been waiting to hear back from them, and today I see the exact same job is advertised again.

They haven't given me an official rejection yet, but is it safe to assume I wasn't what they wanted and I didn't get the job? I feel pretty disappointed.

Well I checked the dates and it was today's date it had been created. Also even if it was still there, it wouldn't have shown up in a "recent jobs" search.

Some companies seem to just have an auto update for roles on the various job sites. Keeps them near the top. Was it advertised through a recruitment agency?

No it wasn't an agency. And I know what you mean about auto-updating, but I don't think this particular site does that. Its possible though.

Can you say what the site is?

It's nothing to do with the site surely if they've bought advertising space for x number of days.

Maybe ring them and ask them?
If you weren't what they were looking for, they may give you some areas to improve for other jobs.

They may be looking for more than one person in the same role.

So did you get the job?

So did you get the job?

Nope, no word. Doubt they would contact me now that its been two weeks since my interview.

Very poor form after going to an interview. It's hard when you think it went well. Best of luck with the job hunt!

I think you would be within your rights to ring the person who interviewed you and ask for some constructive feedback.
I wouldn't mention the new ad, just relate it to your interview and how that went.

I think you may have been unsuccessful but you sound like you are keen and a follow-up call is perfectly reasonable to allow you to continue the job hunt with the knowledge of why you may have been unlucky this time.

Maybe they didn't get enough candidates and need to interview x amount of people before making an offer

As someone who does interviews and has employed a good number of people I can saw that an interview that goes well does not mean you will get the job. We would put out an advert for a position and get a lot of CV's. Sometimes you just don't get the person you want and you have to keep advertising for a while.

OR.. if you haven't been refused a job they could be waiting for a bigger pool of candidates before they decide.

OR.. as has happened in my work, they need more than one person for the job advertised.

Don't feel disappointed until they tell you that you didn't get the Job. Usually when interviewed the company will come back to you .

Wouldn't be too worried at the two week mark. It could easily take that long. Wait until Wed or Thurs and then send off an e mail to whoever your contact is in the company asking if there is any update. If you don'e ask you won't get.

remember too that while this job and the interview are uppermost in your mind, any number of things may have happened within the company to put the job on the back burner for few days. until they say no, I'd hold out hope.
