Recently I lost all UK freeview channels and saorview picture kept breaking up for all Irish channels bar RTE1.
After unplugging the amplifier thing Saorview now works fine but the scan still cannot pick up UK channels.

So it seems I need a new amplifier . Can anyone recommend one ? I am in Balbriggan.

In the case of a masthead amplifier, you're aware the part you unplugged is only the power supply, & replacing the amp. itself could mean a trip to the roof? (Also the PSU could be the problem, independent of the amp.)

You must have separate aerials for Saorview & Freeview, rather than what I believe is a common north Dublin setup, Clermont Carn & Kilkeel on a single aerial? Or a pretty strong Saorview signal.

He will more than likely have a wideband grid aerial as do most of the house's around here.If he needs a new masthead amplifier he will need a group B one.If he has a volt meter he can test the power supply to see whether it's giving out 12v.If he needs a new power supply or masthead amplifier he can get both in Wesco in Drogheda.

In the case of a single aerial for CC/Kilkeel, wouldn't it need to be a wideband amp if it's going to pass all Saorview, with CC mux 2 being on channel 57?

No a group B is sufficient for Kilkeel and mux 1 & 2 from Clermont Carn and gives no problems.

Thanks for replying , it is same aerial for saorview and freeview from 2005 or so.It all worked perfectly as recently as 2-3 months ago . I didn't even notice it was gone until recently as I mostly watch satellite channels .

I thought the amplifier was just the part you plug in . LED on that lights up so problem must be with the aeriel .

Channel 56 for mux 2, I should have said, not that it really changes the point I was getting at, though it's a bit closer to the group B passband.

Might be handier just to get someone out to look at it, rather than trying to hash it out here, especially if you're sure it's a genuine ongoing malfunction, & not just some short-lived effect due to atmospheric conditions maybe causing signal overload or co-channel interference.
