    Hi,

On Sunday when I launched Twitter on android I noticed my account has become associated with a different user. All the people I follow and follow me have become associated with this user also. Its as if my own account was just updated to belong to this new user and not myself.

I changed my password and have tried contacting twitter support but they have not replied. Has anyone seen this before?

    Thanks

This different user - is that you as well, or a total stranger?
If it's you too, do the two accounts use the same mail?

    Hi biko,

No its not me. I dont know who the user is but somehow they've become associated with my email and phone number. My real twitter user, @Aimnburn, no longer appears in search on twitter

Hmm, ok then it's def something that Twitter Support needs to sort out.

I get error on https://twitter.com/Aimnburn so something is up alright

Ok thanks biko. I'm having a hard time contacting their support. Tweets to @support go unanswered and emails to support @ twitter . com apparantly aren't monitored!

Do you know how to contact their support?

I don't know but they probably need some time. Give it a few days?

Thanks for the help Biko. I've been able to fix the problem on the desktop version by just overwriting the "other" users details. I reckon I must have been hacked although, worryingly, that could mean my email was also hacked as they would have had to confirm any updates via email.

    Time to change passwords!

    thanks for your replies
