Online different to phone insurance quote?

Just wondering, I'm just looking online at insurance quotes. Is what they quote online going to be the same as what they quote if I ring?

Was hoping to go through them all online tonight then just call the ones with the lowest quotes tomorrow, or do I need to call a load of places?

    Thanks

The price will be the same unless the information entered is different. Some companies used to do an online discount but not sure if there are any at the minute

The only way to know is by ringing a few companies and comparing but remember you can try and haggle with a person on the phone whereas you cannot with an online quote app. Likewise some online quotes are priced to include a discount for not having to ring a call centre.

    Great, Thanks!

You can haggle on insurance!? Does that apply with first timers on provisional?

Anyone can haggle on anything! It doesn't guarantee you will get a better price but often you do.

You will only be able to haggle with a brokers in general as they decide on their admin fee. If you call a direct insurers they don't have the room to move an inch. As a first time driver on a provisional I'd expect a lot of refusals to be honest. What are you driving? Some insurers will be better than others for certain risks. I'd call a brokers if I were you

I often haggled Axa down, both in their branches and over the phone.

You should be able to get 10% off on the phone by asking is that the best ye can do

As its on a provisional do a load of quotes online and that will give you an idea of what to expect

Quick quotes should be good enough.

The car may have a big bearing on the price is the bigger the engine the higher the quote as you are on a provisional

Yeh I called a couple today who refused.

    Its a 1.4 02 Ford Focus.

Have tried Chill who wouldn't give anything online. Which other brokers are there?

Not from my experience of working in the industry. I've worked directly and for a brokers and in general the answer to "is that the best you can do?" Is "yes" ðŸ˜႒ especially for a first time driver

They must like me so as I always managed to get that from day one. Mind you day one was 1600 pounds and the car cost 1650 fifteen years ago (left them this year as they refused to budge and I was able to get cheaper than last year elsewhere)

No Nonsense.ie 123.ie but you probably will need to get on the phone to brokers with that car and a provisional

Any time I've called I've got a really similar quote on the phone as online, 50 quid difference maybe.

You could try Sheridans, Munster Group, Campions and JLT (off the top of my head)

If your not going to be doing big mileage try "Boxymo" also but be sure to read the fine print. They basically install a tracker box in the car. The prices are very low for young drivers but the penalties are high if you go above the mileage limit. They're worth a look anyway. I've no experience with them directly but I've seen very low quotes from them, when I struggled to get customers less that €4k they were coming around €1k

Thanks for the suggestions, will call them all tomorrow.

Just looking at 25 Plus. They are coming in quite a bit lower than all the others (600euro lower) from googling them, people seem to not be impressed with their customer service. Is there any other reason I should avoid them? How can they quote so much lower than every other company?

25 Plus are underwritten by AIG Insurance.

Brutal shower to deal with and the policies are more basic versions of standard AIG ones.

If price is all you want then go for it but be prepared to spend a long time on hold and on the phone with their incompetent nordie call centre.

I went with 25plus 2 years ago as they were the cheapest and I had no issues with them, other than they were hard to get on the phone.

Some will have online reductions of a few percent.
Some will have up to 10% if you pay for the full year up front.
