In 2014, I voluntarily worked in a shop off my own back for free. I did this in order to gain experience as I had no experience on my CV.

I have secured a job now, but there looking for my p45. I wasn't paid as this was voluntary work to benefit my CV.

Do i just tell my employer that i wasn't paid. How would that make it sound ?

    Thanks

    A 2014 P45 is irrelevant now.

Just tell your employer that you don't have one for this year. Fill in a P46a if they press you for some paperwork.

Most important, though: get your new jobs employer registration number, and ring up revenue to tell them about your new job. They will need to know the employer number, your start date, and what you have been doing so far this year.

And do this every time you start a new job in future, too. Saves a lot of headaches.
