    Q1.
    Can you pay bill without giving your details
    Customers can pay their water bill without registering their details, but Irish Water would advise customers to register with us. This ensures correct billing and eligibility to apply for the Water Conservation Grant, more details of which can be found here. If you wish to register, please call us on 1890 448 448.

    Q2.
    Death of bill holder
    If a member of your family passes away, we would kindly ask that you contact us on 1890 448 448 so that we can assist you further.

    Q3.
    Disconnecting water on unpaid bills
    The Water Services Act (No.2) Act 2013 does not allow customers to be disconnected from the water mains for not paying their water bill. Irish Water will engage with unpaid customers to understand their reasons for non-payment and may be able to provide a solution, taking into account the customer's circumstances.

    All customers who have unpaid arrears of at least the annual capped charge and haven’t entered into a payment plan with Irish Water, will attract an automatic late payment penalty of 30 euro (1 adult household) or 60 euro (all other households) for each year that the charges remain unpaid. This will be added to bills three months following a year of non-payment.

    Q4.
    No water used, why should I pay?
    If you feel that there is an error with your Irish Water bill, please send us a PM with:

    Your name;
    Address;
    Contact Number;
    Account Number; and
    Further details of your query.

    We will be happy to investigate further on your behalf.

    Q5.
    Proof of payment for landlord
    Once you contact Irish Water on the day you move, the onus is no longer on you to pay future water charges for the property as we will update your account details to reflect that you no longer live there. Landlords will not be liable for tenants’ water charges once they or their authorised agents have provided Irish Water with details of the occupiers of their rental properties.

    If you contact Irish Water on 1890 448 448 the day you move, we will update your account details to ensure accurate billing for the period of time you were living in the property. If there are unpaid charges remaining when Irish Water update your account details, the charges remain with the customer rather than the property.
