    What a pair of Muppets.
A 40-year-old man will appear before court on Monday in connection with a robbery involving a chainsaw at a fast food restaurant in Dublin over the weekend.

Two men, one armed with a chainsaw that was turned on, entered a fast food takeaway in at Old Bawn Shopping

Centre in Tallaght about 12.20am on Saturday.

Gardaí said the men threatened the staff and then ripped the till from the counter.

Investigators said the men left the scene and ran in the direction of Bohernabreena Road.

Gardaí from Tallaght and Rathfarnham responded to the incident and searched the immediate area.

Two men, aged 23 and 40-years-old, were arrested on Sunday and taken to Tallaght Garda station.

The cash register and money were found.

Used be a 7/11 round my way. Young fellah went in one night with a machete and tried to rob the place. Goes, roars 'hand over the money' or whatever as best a 15 year old can, and when they just loot at him, he gives a few chops at the sweets. Then one of the staff says 'just fuck off' and he does. Unfortunately for him, this becomes public knowledge and he for years after is awarded various titles, 'the mars bar murderer' being one of the common ones. True story.

I don't get why the OP calls them muppets.

working in a similar environment I can safely say a chainsaw would strike fear into me a lot more than other weapons used in robberies .
I've fought back on occasions but with a chainsaw I'd say "i'm out".
It's a good shock value weapon.

sure they got caught but as robbers they aren't unique in that.

Heard of a someone who held up a shop with a gun in his pocket. He got the money and was subsequently caught nearby and gun was found to be a tin whistle. He became known as the Pipe piper. Don’t know if it’s true it just made me laugh

A chainsaw is actually one of the worst weapons you could bring to a robbery actually, particularly if you're not used using one. It will either die out, the chain will get stuck in a piece of furniture, or you'll hurt your foot when you drop it on it.
