Well I am back to college tomorrow and have no part time job for the year, I know i should have been out looking earlier in the month but i left it too late, i know this but i want to move on and i believe there is hope even if most of the jobs are gone,

can anyone give me any advice on where to look for work and if it is too late? im 24 and never had a job before

    thanks

How have you looked for jobs in the past? Personally I think asking your friends if there is work where they are is probably the likeliest source of a job. That's how I got my first jobs. I did the whole walking around with CVs, but you have to be really lucky there.

Why has this become a problem only now?

If you haven't had a job before, I would suggest something in Hospitality, a lot of hotels especially are starting to find it hard to find staff with the upturn in Dublin at least.

Have you any work experience? Did you ever have a placement as part of your college course? Start with the contacts you have from there. I got most of my jobs from contacts (full and part time) so it's a good place to start.

How have you been managing for money up until now?
How do you have money to buy things?
    Pay rent food bills?

Of course you are going to be stuck in a rut as by not keeping occupied and filling your days with meaningfull activities you will begin to feel sorry for yourself.

    Have you done voluntary work?
Are you involved in a sports team?
Start by looking at things you have done and achieved courses etc.
    Build your cv.
Work at anything that brings in money then move on when you have gained valuable experience.
Lots of people from different professions have worked in a variety of roles over the years including myself.
I just love working to earn money to fend for myself.

    .
Have you ever had to set your clock in the morning to get up for work ever?

You need some discipline and get out there and do it.
Lots of people get refused jobs but eventually secure something then work from there up
