Nissan Primera

We've decided it's time to give up on our VW Golf and are looking for something new (to us). Just a small family car, suitable for driving to get the groceries, to the park, weekend trips to the beach, etc.

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the 06 Nissan Primera? I know it isn't a very inspiring car, looks wise, but I'm more concerned about reliability, etc. We've found one with less than 60000 mi, 2 years NCT (exp. 8/17) and it seems in excellent condition (only partial service history but very clean, one owner, no obvious problems. New tyres, battery, and the garage has just done a full service).

Asking €3450 -- is that reasonable?

Alternatively, looking for Nissan Almera Tekna, though haven't found one that ticks all our boxes just yet.

The almera would be a backwards step from your golf. The primera is not without its faults either.
They're very well speeded and I quite like the interiors. I have seen a few with gearbox trouble.
For that budget I'd seek out a 1.6 Avensis.
