Hello, for the last few months my connection goes down when ever someone is on youtube or on netflix etc. i dont know much about Modems so im wondering if i get myself a Modem and have it beside my PC and have the modem directly plugged into my PC and when i am the only one connected to my modem and people are connected to the others on the same network and if they are using up the connection will my internet be still great since no one is using my router?

You can only use one 'modem/router' per internet connection. Introducing a second router (which I think is what you mean) will result in all kinds of problems (double NAT etc). Who is your provider and what speeds do you normally get?
