Old & Modern Irish in tcd

Hey, Im a Leaving cert student in 6th year and was looking at the degree in Old and Modern Irish, Im certain I want to do Modern Irish but I have concerns about the Old Irish course. Can anybody who has done the course explain whats involved and is it similar to new irish?
