    Hi all,

since winter is approacing us, i wanted to know which heating is cheaper?

I have electric (oil based) heater and the house has its gas heating. We use heating only in bedroom and living room. We use heating from 7 PM till 8 AM, keeping room temperature at 19 C.

In this case, which one would be cheaper to use?

Generally gas is way cheaper than electric heating but if your only heating two rooms with electric vs the whole house with the gas it may work out cheaper. I don't think anybody can tell you without knowing the heatloss of the rooms though.

Turning off the rads in the rooms you don't use will make it easy enough to do a comparison. Heat the rooms you want for a few days with gas, take a reading before and after, then see how long the electric one runs, to calculate cost or buy a power usage meter to give you the costs of running it.

Don't forget to include the immersion.
