Thanks to Claire Santry I discovered Canadian Immigration Records are free on Ancestry this weekend.

Darnnit! Even though I have a sub, I can only get so far and then it asked me to sign up again for a 14 day free trial. Anyone else try it yet?

Try which? The Canadian records or the free trial?

Sorry, to clarify, I meant getting the free trial for the Canadian records. Do I have to sign up for the 14 day free trial before they let me have the free weekend? Sounds daft, but that's what I'm seeing.

I think generally you have to be logged in to avail any free access to Ancestry so if you didn't already have an account you would need to sign up to access any records tied into that offer. I'm currently subscribed so I have access anyway but I can see the Free tag next to the Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935.

Well I do have a sub at the moment and I logged in, but still getting the 'sign up for free 14 day trial'. The temptation is too great unfortunately as it might, give me vital information.

I played with them a bit - also got the free trial thingy but I just Xed out of it and logged in (no sub atm) and it let me view them. Wasn't impressed with some of the scans - couldn't read them clearly. I don't think I have enough information to find what I was looking for.

You got to scans? After I logged in I just got as far as the indexes and when I clicked the records I wanted, up came the 'two weeks free trial' page. I'm so disappointed I didn't get to scans.
