There is a filter on mine, think its a Fernox, would the cleaning of this be included in the service or is it extra.

A good serviceman would do it inclusive (only takes a few minutes)

But do ask him to show you how to do it.

He opened the drain plug and not a drop of water came out, Going to have a look at it myself this week, having been doing some youtube research on it:) He was reluctant to check it out properly.

Hope filter is not blocked, and that I can vent it properly when finished.

If he doesn't know how to clean a mag filter then he's a complete idiot. And at that I'm being generous.

He couldn't figure out how to clean a mag filter, yet you let him service your gas boiler...

Don't waste your money putting an inhibitor into a system that hasn't been powerflushed first. Adey, sentinel or kamco are also good brands

Thanks for reply, It was power flushed before new boiler fitted but its on a very old system, Fernox Filter fitted and Fernox Protector 1 added.

Should I stick with the Fernox Inhibitor or go with one of the brands you mentioned above.

Yes absolutely stick with whatever was originally put in. Don't mix chemicals. Was there much buildup of sludge on your magnetic filter?
