The UK newspaper ABC numbers are out for August 2015.

Press Gazette break down the UK numbers here.
    • The Sunday People was the biggest faller, down 18% YoY.
    • Daily Star Sunday was the second biggest faller, down 13.8% YoY.
    • Double digit drops also at Daily Record, Daily Star, The Sun, Daily Express, Sunday Mail, Sunday Mirror, Sunday Express and Sunday Post.
    • All 24 national titles down YoY with the smallest decline at The Times.
    • Clear that the tabloids are currently suffering the most.

iLevel have a break down of the UK newspaper in Ireland numbers here.
    • The Daily Record was the biggest faller down 28% YoY.
    • The Daily Star Sunday was the second biggest faller down 24% YoY.
    • The Sunday Mail was the third biggest faller down 20% YoY.
    • Double digit drops also at the Daily Mirror, The Guardian, Sunday Mirror, The People, Sunday Express, Mail on Sunday, the Observer.
    • Of the 24 titles tracked, 21 declined, 3 increased which were The Times, FT (20 copies) and Sunday Post (from a tiny base).
    • Total market down 7% YoY.

More bad news for the old media newspaper industry but particular bad news for Northern & Shell, Sunday newspapers and tabloids.

Some drop for The Mail on Sunday. Will need to be relaunched.

The London Times up slightly, does not surprise me. Very good value on Saturday @ €1.35, great magazine and review section.

The Guardian has lost its way, does not seem interested in its paper edition.

In the UK, the Mail on Sunday, was down just 5.89% YoY, far less than the average decline for the Sunday market. The Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday are declining at a slower pace than the Sun. It is plausible that the Mail will have bigger sales than the Sun in the not too distant future.

It's difficult to predict - the MoS are prone to huge shifts in numbers on the back of bulks and/or promotions. They swing wildly at times - but there's a core group of purchasers there every sunday.
