    ...Felt a bit sorry for Nova over the week, despite all the birthday wishes it seems no-one got them even one CD voucher as a present....5 years and the same songs as on their first day....:)

    That's right. Radio Nova started broadcasting on 1st September 2010. There have been quite a few changes in the schedule since then and some people have come and gone.

    However, the following original presenters are still in the lineup: Marty Miller, Greg Gaughren, Pat Courtenay, Pat James and Mike Maloney. Greg is the only presenter who has show times that have not changed : 10am -2pm Monday to Friday (he used to be on very early on weekends as well - that's gone). Mike Maloney left for a while and came back again. There is only a slight change to Pat James's Off the Record on Sunday nights: changed from 10pm - 1am to 9pm - 1am (an extra hour).

    Steve Downes' syndicated show ("The Classics") is still being broadcast on Sunday nights, albeit an hour earlier (7 to 9pm).

    Who has left over the years: Hugh O'Brien, Breffni Clack, Louise Maloney, Enda Murphy, Carol Dooley, Tommy Walsh, John Power, Jason Dee, Rick Wakeman (seriously - yes! - whoops, pardon the pun there!), Ian Garland, Barry Egan, Dave Redmond, Niall O'Keeffe, Triona Mara, Steve McQuarrie and Joan Lea. I'm not sure if Gerry Healy or Sean Ashmore are still involved with Radio Nova.

    This is my first post in about 6 weeks!

    Some of the more recent presenters to join Radio Nova (2013 on) include:

    Adrienne O'Hora;

    another husband-and-wife team Jack and Ali, who are best known for their talk show on Spin 103;

    Peter Devlin of The Devlins;

    Ernie Gallagher - very experienced radio presenter, most recently coming from Q102;

    Mark Taffe - former station manager with dance pirate NRG FM until earlier this year;

    Sinead Ni Mhordha - experienced club deejay, singer and ex-Phantom presenter and

    John Neary - presenter of Live Drive on Dublin City FM.

    Others who have been presenters on Nova for a while now : Johnny Bowe, Dee Woods (originally a newsreader) and Paul Moriarity (left for a while and came back).

    For completeness sake, I should also mention that Damien Farrelly and P.J. Gallagher of 4FM did a week on Nova - I think it was practice for their breakfast gig on 4FM!

    Hi Declan,

    To add to your current list there is Tony Ainscow (?) doing Dad Rock on Friday Nights as well for the last while and I have heard Mike O'Brien doing overnights he normally does 4fm bank holidays.

    You are some source of information, when are you publishing the complete list of Radio Personnel ?

    There's also 5 big announcements coming soon to celebrate. I wonder what they will be.

    That chap's name is Tony Anscough I believe! He was previously with Kevin Branigan's temporary licensed station 949 The Rock - the forerunner to this station.

    Nice to hear that Mike O'Brien is getting paid gigs on radio - he was with various pirates from the late '90s up until the mid '00s, and then he had involvement in the temporary licensed sector, which included his own project - The 90s Network.

    Now that I think of it, former Nova CEO David Tighe did a bit of presenting, and Kevin still keeps his hand in from time to time.

    I think he might be sick, which is why newsreader Conor Irwin has stepped in.

    Incidentally, I have noticed that Bernie Jamieson is now a newsreader on Nova - until recently she was with Newstalk, having previously been with Today FM and 4FM (and a presenter on Spirit Radio).

    In my list of recent presenters, I forgot about Treac Ni Bhraonain, who presents the first two hours of Classic Gold Sunday.

    Nova is dragging out these so-called "five presents" to itself!

    Declan, do you think Nova will ever change its boring predictable safe way of broadcasting music to the masses (countrywide i hear soon ;);)) or will mr Brannigan grow a pair and let the jox play a more varied selection ...??

    It seems it was an apple being thrown onto a glass table, then rolling and hitting a drinking glass. There's a lot of controversy surrounding the win.

    An apple rolling into a pint glass!!! You couldn't make it up!! I'd say if most people lived until they were a thousand, no-one would have guessed it without the shedload of clues they gave. Absolutely ridiculous.

    Yep, if you look and listen to the 'video of the noise' it is literally dubbed over it, not a hope that was the noise at all, plus the girl who won (fair play mind you) said it was 'an apple rolling into a pint glass' in the video its clearly not a pint glass !

    Ridiculous. Seems they realised that nobody was going to actually get it so literally made something up. Some of the clues that were given were not even anything to do with the answer !

    I was astonished when I heard that was the answer - it sounds much more mechanical.
    But they committed to "someone" winning it by the end of September.

    There's a lot of unhappy listeners alright. From the noise itself being so random and nonsensical to the suspect video and of course Keith Barry's 'prediction', the whole thing has left many scratching their heads in disbelief.

    Did Keith Barry actually write a predicition ?

    Apparently so. Supposedly he sent a sealed envelope to the station on 24th September to be opened once the Nova Noise was won. As it happened, it was won just before Keith Barry went on air as a guest on Morning Glory. He then instructed Dee & Marty to open the envelope and read the content of the note inside. Granted, the note did accurately state what had just transpired. But the stunt only added fuel to the rumours that the whole thing was a fix in order to end the competition quickly before the deadline of 30th September. Personally I don't know what to make of it all. That being said, I'll still listen to Nova as their music is good, even if their competitions aren't.
