Question about Garda

OK so i have my jaguar parked in my garden all the time. Its not taxed insured and nctd. It is declared off the road but yesterday I had to move it out of the way and park it on the road because a van needed to get to the side of my house. Well I left it there for the night and this morning I was told by a neighbour that one of the other neighbours came out and smashed a glass over it and there is glass shards and blood all over my car. My question is should I call the guards or just leave it because my car shouldn't have been on the road in the first place. My neighbour is a bit mad, I seen her the other day standing in the front garden in her housecoat holding a buthcher knife so everyone knows what's she's like.

But I'll have to tell them it was across the road anyway. I have put it back in the garden anyway. Just don't want them sending me a fine or anything.

Have you open insurance to drive other cars.

It is a bit. Of a pickle.

Is there damage to the car?

Have you open insurance to drive other cars.

    How is that relevant?

Is there any noticeable damage to your car? If not, just put it back and wash it as there is nothing the gardai can do anyway...

Moving house might also be a good idea!! :)

There's a few scratches but nothing I can see that's major damage. Looks like I'll be washing it today. Thanks

It might be an idea to inform the Gardai that you parked a car across the road overnight and when you went to move it there was some glass broken around it, as you've no idea what someone crazy enough to smash a bottle on a car could say to the Gardai.

well the op did say they drove the car on a public road.
The reason I asked is as the cop could ask the same.

Sometimes these situation can bring more trouble then to just forget about it.

I asked was there damage and if so then the op can bring a civil case against the crazy lady.

Put it back in the drive and tell them you had it outside on a trailer when it happened.

I'd put it in your drive way and say it happend their , chances are it could just be a few underage idiots drunk walking home throwing glass thinking they are cool

I can't believe people are openly suggesting to lie to the Gardai
Chances are that a patrol car spotted the car parked during the night anyway!

    Harmless lie.

He moved it to get a van past it, some idiot smashed a glass over it and then he moved it back.

If gardai called around and car was back in garden they wouldn't give two hoots.

A little white lie, I just hate the way you can't have a single nice thing without some idiot trying to damage it

Unless you fancy wasting a day of your life in court, and that's presuming that the neighbor that saw it happen is also willing to spend a day sitting in court to give evidence, I don't think it's worth your while reporting it... But that's just me.
