Dublin to San Francisco Aer lingus advance check-in

    Hi folks

    I am due to fly next week to San Fran on a direct flight from Dublin. I tried to check in online but it is limited to the day before, Saturday.

    I usually book at least 1 week in advance in European flights. Aer lingus then issue the eticket/boarding pass which I print off. Is it the same procedure for US flights as it is for European flights ? I have my ESTA approval already so I assume it references this on the check-in. I was planning to be at the airport at 9am for a 12:20pm flight. I know it is 2 hours before for US flights. Am I overdoing it time wise ?

    If you are going through US immigration in Dublin, 2 hours is not overdoing it, things can get quite slow down there.

    Arrived at 6am for a 9am flight to Newark, by the time I got through check-in, security and US immigration boarding was already being called. If I were you I'd arrive 3 hrs early, better safe than sorry imo.

    As above, ESTA makes no difference to the length of the queue in CBP. It just means you get checked in at the desk rather than having a problem with being allowed to check-in.
    3 hours to give yourself some breathing space....10 minute walk from aircraft to landside baggage belt on the other side.
