Ide guess they will be using the BAE146. Ryanair use the 737-800. Cityjet dont have them in their fleet, if they did they would be too big for London City Airport anyway. Google BAE146 to see the aircraft.

There's a pic of one of them in the topic just below yours:

It could have been on an ATR too, but that fell through and Cityjet decided to use their own aircraft.

Thanks, had a quick look on google, do you know if it's a prop airplane or jet?

They use the Avro RJ85, just Google -"What aircraft do City Jet use".

Would it have been best to ask this in the Cork Airport thread?

Anyway Cityjet are a good airline from what I've heard, inc in your price is a 20kg (I think) suitcase and a free snack. With fares comparable to EI to Heathrow yet those added extras and the fact that your flying into LCY, the service is really a no-brainer.

Carnacalla, dont come one here and tell a poster to google anything. it was a fair question which was answered above by Growler and joegriffinjnr. you are the very one who moans the whole time about fair treatment etc etc. also no need to answer the question again, it was answered if you were bothered to look at the other replies

I'm actually the first person in the thread to say RJ85, and offered more info about the service.

    Have you read the responses?

    Cop on.
The OP asked for what aircraft it was, and even though a picture was provided no type was given.

Leave your personal gripes at home please and stop nitpicking.

There's an aircraft type in the very first reply, BAE146.

The BAE146 is an older version, the correct aircraft is an RJ85.

Edit: But apologies, I worded the answer wrong, there was a type given, albeit not the correct one.

Flights on the route don't start until October 1st!

I regularly fly the Dublin-LCY route with CityJet which also uses the Avro RJ85, never had any complaints. It can sometimes get a pretty bumpy at landing but nothing too extreme. Having flown on the Flybe Saab 340 in the middle of a what can only be described as a mini hurricane I guess I'm a bit desensitised to turbulence though.

It doesn't start for another week, but given WX's track record in general I'd say book with them.

Yes looking forward to travelling with them, have only heard good things about them. Old style service with a smile.

Flying with them on the 1st, quite looking forward it as I haven't flown with Cityjet in years or on the Avro for that matter.

Only downside so far is no option to select seats, assume it can be done at online check in but that doesn't open until 30 hours before.

Yes you can select seats at online check-in.

I've only approached LCY from the east, but if you're approaching from the west you get one of the best approaches to any airport in the world.

    4 days until its launch!
    I wonder how bookings are?
    Will it affect Heathrow much?

Doubt it. Can see the WX route creating additional traffic between Cork and London, without really taking too much away from EI. It could though effect FR to an extent, especially with there lead in fares. EI's ORK-LHR is a high connectivity route which WX can't touch, followed by well established GC pax and leisure demand which again will be hard for WX to touch.

The route launched yesterday. I was on the first LCY-ORK flight and returned to London later that afternoon. Great flights overall, excellent level of service from the cabin crew and from this experience alone I'd rate Cityjet way ahead of EI, BA and Flybe.

Loads weren't great as you'd expect, about 30 on the way out and less than 20 coming back but hopefully they can build on that and find their place in this market.

any update on the passenger numbers for the 1st few days...I wouldn't the surprised if they are low for the 1st few weeks people might be wary after what happened with the cork prague during the summer

You cannot judge a new service after 2 days.

For goodness sakes give it a chance.

I would suggest that London is a completely different market to Prague and the two services are not in any way comparable.

This is a route that will have up to three flights a day - like any new service it will take time to settle in.

BA146 is a lovely plane to fly in. Quiet with smooth performance.

    That's great :)

Pitty its an RJ85 on the service!

(Yes, I know they are similar)

It's quieter than an ATR or Dash-8 but much louder than an A320 or 737, those four engines hanging over the wing and the thinner side walls make the cabin quite noisy during cruise.

Still a very nice aircraft, better make the most of them too as their days are numbered now.
