CityJet launched their new livery today, with new uniforms to come soon apparently. Pics here

There's a new logo aswell, and talk of new aircraft to join the fleet. Something new for the spotters anyway!

The CEO was on with Pat Kenny on news talk this morning. Good interview, check Newstalk site for podcast. Too lazy to get link :p.

Not a fan of that really. Slightly bland and looks quite corporate. Nice to see the Irish flag back on the reg though!

I love the 146, that and the MD11 are my favourite aircraft.

I like it, but I wonder how it will look on a larger aircraft.

Theyre unlikely to ever have one

    They're not particularly larger, though.

Id hope they designed with the new fleet in mind foremost - if they do replace quick, few avros will get it

Personally I think its a bit "blah".....however modern marketing would advise towards a bland livery as it "allows the customer to put their own interpretation on the brand"...or something to that effect.

However the corporate styling is in my view a good thing, as Cityjet are targeting corporate passengers.
Obviously the aircraft type is a factor but it looks very like Cello Aviation in the UK.

It's okay but it's very bland at the same time. It looks more like a charter company then a fully fledged airline.

Are cityjet defo going E jets?

I love the 146 too if not a bit tight in the 3-3 arrangement, and not a bad livery but they really need to get more fuel efficient aircraft, have they ordered E-Jets? Who is funding City Jet? they never make money as far I can recall.

It does look a bit 'corporate jet'. However it does look tidy if not outstanding. I guess brand awareness wise they could do better but CityJet just seem to keep trucking on with minimal fuss or mass pr and advertising campaigns so they must be doing something right.

They were at one stage going Sukhoi but then VLM was sold off, VLM were meant to get two SSJ100's in to test them out before a larger order but they rapidly downscaled their routes so stuck with F50's.

They were reported as saying the Embraer aircraft weren't modern enough and the Bombarier CSJ's they weren't willing to take a gamble on as they were too new to the market with too few operators at the moment.

I agree. It's ever so slightly disappointing, but still better than the ex-AF livery ones. There's meant to be a fleet announcement in the coming weeks.

I'd still put money on them taking VLM's SSJ 100s, even if only on a trial run. I'm told Cityjet have broken even over the summer, which is probably the basis they've used for further investment.

Ugh. "Grey is the colour of the weak-minded man" as the Germans say.

Easyjet demonstrate very well that bold, bright colours are no deterrent to business travellers. Particualrly the new 'jagged' livery that says quite boldly 'Easyjet has arrived at the gate'.

Cityjet seem to be heading in the other direction, with a livery that says nothing about the brand or service other than 'don't pay much attention to us, we're pretty bland and forgettable'.

As an engineer, the 146 is an absolute pig to work on.

Heres a list of approved aircraft that are certified to use LCY. Unless sukhoi get that certification my money is on Embraer.

In what way? I suppose they could try to get a leasing company to give them the present model of the aircraft now and replace them with E2 versions once they become available around 2018/19.

With the present embargoes etc between Europe and Russia, I don't think that i would feel confident recommending a Sukhoi SSJ100.

I seem to remember reading that cityjet wanted to avoid another RJ situation and get brand new aircraft, to take advantage of lower operating costs for longer. If I can remember where i read it I'll link it.

Will Swiss having the CS100 flying now have any influence on cityjets thinking?

Why is that? Old design or simply over engineered!

It was a phrase that I also thought was a bit open as well, but I quote verbatim what I was told. It could stem from when they were looking for aircraft it was ERJ v CJ v Sukhoi, the CJ probably the aircraft for them but not when it not being flown by anyone. The EJ in comparison wouldn't have all the new stuff the CJ has but maybe the E2 will fix that.

I have an aversion to promises from Bombardier, I have seen them offer written performance guarantees on an airframe/engine combination that was so new that the engine manufacturer didn't know about it! So I would personally avoid them until i could see AFM based guarantees.
As for the Sukhoi, again I wouldn't be brave enough to offer such an unique aircraft, i would much prefer to see in service history rather than book estimates, and remember that the Sukhoi is actually a 2000 design so its even older than the ERJ.

Those aren't LCY capable so it can't be their fleet replacement

They are for operating the SAS routes that they will be taking over.

    SAS Announcement on the deal:

    http://www.sasgroup.net/en/sas-enters-into-agreements-with-cityjet-for-wet-lease-and-sale-of-blue1/

SAS enters into agreements with Cityjet for wet lease and sale of Blue1

SAS begins collaboration with Cityjet on regional jet services. As part of this collaboration, Cityjet is also acquiring 100% of the shares in SAS subsidiary Blue1.

SAS’s strategy is to offer frequent travelers a broad network with frequent flights to, from and within Scandinavia. To adapt the size of the production to traffic flows SAS utilizes hired capacity, known as a wet lease, with smaller regional jet and turboprop aircraft.

In line with this strategy, SAS has entered into an agreement with Cityjet on the wet lease of eight new Bombardier CRJ900s. SAS already operates twelve regional jet aircraft of this type through its subsidiary, Cimber.

“We are looking forward to working with Cityjet to further expand our regional route network and thereby strengthen SAS’s offering to frequent travelers. The eight brand new CRJ900s from Cityjet will provide us with efficient and flexible production of regional flights that will complement SAS’s production on the larger traffic flows,” says Rickard Gustafson, President and CEO at SAS.

The new aircraft, which each have 90 seats and are painted in SAS colors, will be put into service from March 2016 on routes and at times when there is a need for smaller aircraft. The wet lease agreement is for three years and covers eight Bombardier CRJ900s with an option on a further six aircraft.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Cityjet to work with a leading airline such as SAS. We are looking forward to a long-term cooperation, where we will deliver a high level of quality in terms of efficiency and customer service for SAS passengers. We are also keen to benefit from the experience and knowledge of the Nordic airline industry that the acquisition of Blue1 will give us,” says Patrick Byrne, Chairman of the Board at Cityjet.

As part of this collaboration, Cityjet is acquiring 100% of the shares in SAS subsidiary Blue1. The sale of Blue1 will lead to a marginal impact on SAS’s income before tax, cash and net debt. The Group’s income after tax during Q4 2014/2015[1] will be negatively impacted of around MSEK 90, primarily due to write down of capitalized loss carry forwards. The sale and the new wet lease agreement are expected to increase cost efficiency and flexibility.

So Blue1 won't be operating for SAS now, it'll be CityJet? Just happy I got to see a 717 in DUB while I could haha
