Decent hotel suggestions for Paris?

Im looking for a twin room in Paris this December (10th-13th) and if possible, close to a tram or metro station so we can get around to do some sightseeing. I have tried all the usual websites etc but I would rather ask the well travelled people here on Boards.ie what they would advise based on their experience.

I am looking for something not too expensive and if possible with breakfast thrown in. We will be out of the room most of the day so even cheap and cheerful is welcome (if such a place exists in Paris!). All advice is appreciated.

Hotel Andre Latin is 90 seconds from Luxembourg RER station in the Latin Quarter. Usually stay there when I'm in Paris. It's ideal if you're flying into CDG as you can get the RER direct from the airport to Luxembourg.

Timhotel opera Madeleine, literally across the street from saint lazare train and metro station, great location, not the most expensive either :)

Stayed in June and was quite impressed!

Last time I stayed in the Holiday Inn Rue Vaugirard. Nice hotel and got a good rate. It's on a quote street buy within 60 seconds walk to a metro station. One or two nice Cafe Bars in the area too if one evening you don't want to venture far from the hotel.

I can't remember what we paid but Hotel Ares is a nice spot and a short walk to the Eiffel Tower.

It's a kind of boutique hotel I think I got it on a special offer around Christmas time.

Staying up around LA Defense can be quite affordable at the weekend as it is the business district. Right at the end of the Mrtro line 1 which goes right in to the city centre. Has a nice chilled vibe at weekends.

Hotel Eugenie is 50m from St Michel metro stop and 5 mins walk to Notre Dame. Location won't be beat and we found it great value for money

I wouldn't worry about breakfast in the hotel as there are thousands of places in the city offering better fare at cheaper prices
