UPC BROADBAND and online gaming ( PSN,Xbox Live)

    Hi.
I've recently moved from Eircom to UPC for broadband,tv and phone and the gamers in the house are not happy. There are frequent disconnections when gaming online on either platform ( PS3, Xbox 360 ). There are issues with broadband reliability and the home phone as well but I want to focus on the gaming issue here.
I have a Horizon box and a Technicolor T7200 ( IPV6 with firmware 6.01.12 ) with the consoles directly wired to the T7200 ( no wireless or Powerline connection), so I have the option to move the broadband to the Horizon box but that's in another room so I'd rather not go that route yet but it's an option.

I'd like to get the following info from any online gamers on UPC :

Does anyone play online without disconnection issues on the T7200 ?

If so, what is the firmware level on the T7200 ?

If so, is IPV4 or IPV6 being used ?

As an aside, I cannot get the firmware to update beyond 6.01.12 by resetting for any length of time. Also, I asked UPC what the latest firmware was but did not get an answer.

Similar questions regarding the Horizon box as I may have the option to use that instead with Powerline adaptors.

Does anyone play online without disconnection issues on the Horizon box ?

If so, is IPV4 or IPV6 being used ?

I'd like answers to the above rather than being simply told to bridge the T7200 to sort any problems as that would be the last resort and I'd like to consider any other options ( update firmware, switch to IPV4 ) before that.

Mods, if this post would suit another forum better, feel free to move it.
    Thanks in advance.

    - I did play fine connected wired with powerline. But anyone who was on wireless had nothing but issues. Eventually I bridged it to an Archer C5 router and wired/wireless has been flawless.

    - Will check this when I get home. STF6.0.1.27 possibly.

    - IPV4

Also, no personal experience here but I heard nothing but bad things with regards to UPCs Horizon equipment. I was told to 100% avoid it for now until it improves.

Maybe, just maybe IPV6 is your problem but I don't have enough knowledge on it.

Unfortunately, regardless of what you want to here, the TC7200 is just a terrible router with UPC. Getting it properly bridged was a huge pain in the head first but it ended up being a godsend in the long run .
