    Munster:
    Felix Jones; Andrew Conway, David Johnston, Rory Scannell, Shane Monahan; Ian Keatley, Duncan Williams;
James Cronin, Mike Sherry, BJ Botha; John Madigan, Dave Foley; Dave O'Callaghan, Jack O'Donoghue, CJ Stander - capt.

Replacements: Niall Scannell, John Ryan, Stephen Archer, Robin Copeland, Shane Buckley, Cathal Sheridan, Tyler Bleyendaal, Cian Bohane.

First competitive match of the season and the selection that stands out is David Johnston who is normally a 10 or 15 I believe at outside centre. Rory Scannell starts at 12 after some good performances last season in the Pro12. No Dave Kilcoyne who must still be with Ireland as cover. No Gerhard Van Hen Heever at all which is a surprise. Williams gets the nod over Sheridan at 9.

Scannell/Johnston really does stand out. Looking forward to see how they get on.

    Also Mike Sherry

Will be interesting to see how Madigan and Foley get on together, hopefully they can form a good partnership.
Not too sure of Monahan on the wing, would have been a good opportunity for sweetnam.

With any luck his last one was cursed, and now he'll become world class.

Hopefully himself and Johnson go well today. Scannell has a nice skillset he should get good oppertunities now with Hurley injured

Ballsy move to go for the corner pays up! Dreadful miss from Stander.

Well fair play to Treviso putting on that pressure and getting the try.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

    ....and some conversion by Hayward.

    C'mon Munster - concentrate!

Scannell makes good ground in contact consistently (haven't seen him pass though), DOC looks so ungainly, Cronin carrying well, and madigan looks a good prospect.

What just happened with that knock on?

Don't know what to say its such a poor game littered with mistakes .
Monahan and scannell looking sharp though.

This is like watching paint dry. Fans and staff look bored.

    Very impressed with Scannell.

JOD offloads to the opposition and then immediately rips it back off him. :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,985 ✭✭✭budhabob

JOD continuing where he finished last season....some barn storming stuff from him.

Last ditch defense there. Monahan in particular did well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Let off there, good defence to prevent the try. I'm loving this new version of Treviso!

Williams has put it into the 2nd row every scrum. Can sherry not hook?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,310 ✭✭✭letowski

Infairness to Treviso they came to play. They have brought a big team too, Munster not really getting over the gain line and going thru phases.

Yes, very blatantly. But this never seems to get penalised.

Nicely done by stander much more intensity by Munster this half.
Axel must have given it to them in the dressing room.

Doc has been good, in the last year he has brought much more physicality to his game, he is a big lad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Treviso winger in the bin. Plenty of time to nab the BP.

What kind of a pass was that from Williams to Bleyendaal?! Sometimes Williams just forgets how to pass.

Good to see bohane back after the injury woes last season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

I don't understand taking three points there.

Surely a BP is the priority now.

Lbp for treviso. Poor game all in all. Munster could have been miles ahead but weren't anywhere near clinical enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,741 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Surprised at how well Treviso did, particularly in the set piece.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,077 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

    Munster looked lethargic, I thought.

Treviso came to play - impressed with them.

Really need to improve for the Ospreys, we had a fairly new look team today and things never nearly clicked. Thought the backrow and wingers did well, Scannell was good too.

Very mixed bag from Munster, perfect evening for rugby but our handling errors killed us. Very happy with JOD and Madigan.

Out lineout creaked as did our scrum. Keatley had a missed bag, missed a sitter, poor game management decisions and poor execution at times.

Conway, Scannell and Jones threatened a few times but then we knocked on or got turned over. It was hard to watch or get too excited.

Lots to work on for next week.

Just wondering does anybody have the game recorded.
My box had a technical issue and didn't record it gggr.
