    Hi,

I have an job offer which i have accepted. I was not too happy with the pay but accepted it as it was at par what i was getting in my old company. But my old company now wants to retain me and have given offer above what the new company has offered.

Any views how shall i take this forward with new company for which i have accepted the offer ? Can I negotiate with them ? Or its not advisable to do that....?

Thanks in advance for the advices !

you have to ask yourself what was the main motivation for leaving your current role? Was it money, opportunities, the job itself, the people, the culture?

If you main reason for leaving was not money, then staying for a bit extra seems to be defeating the purpose of you leaving.

But you can always go back to the new job and tell them that your old company has offered you a higher salary to stay.....the only downside is that they may revoke the job offer.

Industry information suggests that most people that take a retention counter-offer leave within 12 months.
    • Trust will be broken with your current employer.
    • Work will be a strained environment.
    • You will probably not be considered for long term opportunities.

In reality, You have already left, second guessing that decision is not usually productive.
