I'm keeping ewe lambs for breeding, They are all around the 45-50kg mark..will be putting a charolais ram with them in late October and hope for the best... Just wondering do any of ye's shear your ewe lambs that your keeping and if so does it make any difference.. some of these are off horned ewes and have a habit of getting caught in the briars during the winter.. that's some of my reason in thinking of shearing them....

I imagine they grow well after shearing, less wool around the udder at lambing and much easier to see if they're losing condition....very cold now for shearing but i'll be doing it next week

I shore our 50 on Monday and Tuesday after work (I'm not the fastest shearer), its the first time we've done it. We previously crutched the ones the scanned in lamb and it went well. Its been awful cold up here since Tuesday but they seem ok, one or two huddled in under the ditch.

I don't let ewe lambs to ram the first year but do get them sheared each year as it helps their thrive over the winter months and most importantly stops them getting caught in briars.....as ewe lambs tend to get themselves into all sorts of corners!

    Got them sheared this week.
