Why are my consumption figures so high?

    Good afternoon,

I have received 2 bills from IW to date and the consumption figures seem very high. I am a single person living alone in a small group of apartments, who due to the nature of my job leaves home early in the morn & returns late in the evening. Apart from weekends, I generally eat & shower outside the home during the week. I don't do any laundry at home. I have no garden nor a car to wash.

The first bill had a volume supplied at 57.558m3 which worked out at 640 litres a day. An incredible amount given my circumstances. I naturally queried this amount with Irish Water and was told that there had been a leak but now it had been fixed. Irish Water couldn't tell me who fixed it nor could they tell me where the leak had occurred. There was no evidence of any leak within the apartment nor in the public areas.

The second bill arrived yesterday and the consumption was lower than previous but it still seems very high. This time the amount supplied was 17.483m3 which equates to 194 litres per day. I have read that the average use for a single person is 150L/day and I would assume this is based on a person using the property full time.

The high consumption figures would lead me to believe that there is still a leak somewhere in the system. The leak is not in the apartment so it is therefore an issue for your company even though you seem intent on charging me for water that I am not receiving, using nor disposing of.

Please note that no bills will be paid until this matter is fully resolved.

    Regards
