Irish Water - High Consumption Figures

    Hi all,

I have received 2 bills from IW to date and the consumption figures seem very high. I am a single person living alone in a small group of apartments, who due to the nature of my job leaves home early in the morn & returns late in the evening. Apart from weekends, I generally eat & shower outside the home during the week. I don't do any laundry at home. I have no garden or car to wash.

The first bill had a volume supplied at 57.558m3 which worked out at 640 litres a day! An incredible amount given my circumstances. I naturally queried this amount with Irish Water and they told me that there had been a leak but now it had been fixed. They couldn't tell me who fixed it nor could they tell me where the leak had occurred. There was no evidence of any leak within the apartment nor in the public areas.

The second bill arrived yesterday and the consumption was lower than previous but it still seems very high. This time the amount supplied was 17.483m3 which equates to 194 litres per day. I have read that the average use for a single person is 150L/day and I would assume this is based on a person using the property full time.

I was just wondering if there are any other single people out there who could advise on their wate consumption figures to date? And also if anyone can advise how to get to the bottom of this "leak" issue?

I have not paid Irish Water 1 cent to date and at this rate I certainly don't intent to.

My apologies for the delay in explaining the reason for closure - I got distracted!

We don't allow discussion of Irish Water in After Hours.

We have a talk to forum which deals with personal queries about your account, or we have a general IW discussion thread in Politics Cafe. Please read the forum charters before posting.
