It has passed the nct with this issue but i need a quick sale as emigrating and was wonderinh does anyine have any experience with something like this and is it a big job to get done ?

How long have clocks been like this? Were they working at any time?

Yes they worked perfectley up until about 7 months ago. I know i should have looked into it sooner! The speedomitor amd petrol gage are fine

    Ah the old cliche.

Would you swap for a nice diesel?

New set of clocks from a scrap yard, all you need to change iirc is a philips head screw driver and around 20 mins. sorted.

Just watch out the new clocks will have to have their millage changed if they are far out they wont tally up with the nct log but otherwise they are easy to change they if unsure have a look on youtube.

Punto clocks are hard to mileage align, the mileage can only be brought up, not down and only with dealer level gear. So if you get clocks with 140,000 on and your car has 97,000 they cant be matched up. Also in most cases the mileage will flash on and off to indicate the clocks are not original until the procedure is done (this doesn't happen every time, you can be lucky)

Dont think they flash on a punto do they? I changed clocks in my old 01 elx model many years ago for a set of the sporting clocks they never flashed or anything afterwards.

Replacing the clocks in any Fiat usually requires a Proxi Alignment otherwise ithe mileage will flash and certain body control modules functions could be affected.

It is possible to perform an actuation test on the clocks using a scan tool like MultiECUscan or Fiat examiner and see if the existing cluster can be investigated.
