Hi I'm going into third year history and anthropology. I wish to substitute a history module for an anthropology module. This would give me 20 history credits and 10 anthropology credits in one semester, it would be 15 each in the other. How would this affect my degree and if anyone has switched a module before how do I do this, do I ask permission from both departments?

    Cheers

You're veering into major/minor territory there and might have to request special permission from the records office as well as both Dept's. It may mean that you can only do 20 credits for anthropology overall and 40 for history though they might give you some leeway. If you want to do it I'd get talking to the right people asap.

Think you're allowed 5 credits per year outside your named degree. Call it a rogue module or something like that? Like if you didn't want to do some viking module you could do something in sociology instead. Can't remember. Friend of mine did it a few years ago. Skipped something Irish history related and did a first year Anthropology module instead. Loved it.
