Need some advice.. Can a stove (top exit) flue be installed completely vertical or should at least 2 x 45° bends be installed to produce a better draft?

Bends have no bearing on creating draft.
A flue/chimney will work best straight no bends.

I used to spend way too much time arguing this point with experienced builders around here. I eventually gave up and let them continue wasting money thinking the bends improved the draught.
