    Hi,

I got connected to fttc on Monday.
Prior to this I had adsl, (2+ wasn't available)

I've had fairly constant stats for the past 2 years:

    ADSL

Connection Speed 7168 kbps 384 kbps
    Line Attenuation 13.5 dB
    Noise Margin 12.9 dB

Since switching to fibre my stats are now:
    VDSL

Connection Speed 25599 kbps 7167 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.0 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 14.1 dB 10.10 dB

    Noise margin increase = good

I'm confused about how attenuation increased so much - different frequencies?

All checks I've been able to do give a max of 25Mbit for the line

digiweb line checker gives the following:

    Line Check Results For: **********
    Exchange Code: ************
DSL Enabled: Yes - 17 MB
NGB Enabled: Yes - 17 MB
Fibre Enabled: Yes - 25 MB
    LLU Enabled: No

Considering my line stats look good & line is steady does anyone know if a different profile with a lower SNR margin (6dB?) would be possible or is this my lot in terms of speed?

    thanks

You need a 9db margin for VDSL, Eircom themselves look for 12db for an absolutely perfect connection

Increase in dAtten is suspicious. The DSLAMS are less accurate with really low numbers in my experience, but at that range it should manage fine. Have you estimated loop length by road?
