If you've got an Amazon account, you may have been sent an offer for a 'free' £10 code. If you're eligible to get it you'll need to buy £40 of Amazon gift cards by Sat 12 Sep.

I believe this promotion is for those who did not buy the gift card in the last promotion (buy £20 gift card and get £5 promo code). There is a link through moneysavingexpert that will tell if your account is eligible:

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I got it the last time. Nice free £10 :D

Beware though there are some T&Cs. Iirc, the £10 has to be spend on something from Amazon, sold by and dispatched by Amazon itself.

The terrible exchange rate will munch that up in no time. Great offer all the same..

Check out this thread about the Revolut prepaid mastercard that you can use to take some of the edge off the exchange rate. At least you won't be paying commision with it. I used it last night on this Amazon offer.

I think my one from the last offer has to be spent by the end of October or something like that...

Do you need to have got the email. Clicked on link and offer comes up as eligible. Also can I use both the voucher and the discount to buy a laptop, thanks

If you're eligible, you'r eligible! Anything sold by Amazon qualifies, not the merchants.

I am eligible to get it and then I look to buy a gift card.

Gift card delivered to Ireland - postage is £6.41 (incidentally if you deliver to a UK address it's free).

Email voucher - free to email obviously but you cannot get a £40 voucher. £50 is the lowest amount that will qualify for this offer.

    Am I missing something here?

Can you select "Other Amount" at the top of the drop-down amount list and then select €40 that way?

Just select Other Amount in the drop down and set that to forty (^^ as per Libera's Post)

How and how long did it take for you to get the £10 code?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,368 ✭✭✭leck

I come up as eligible. Selected the option to get £40 gift card by email. Paying with Irish Visa card. This is prob a stupid question, but which is better? - use Amazon Currency Converter (Order Total: GBP 40.00, Payment Total: EUR 56,56) or pay in GBP.

General rule with Amazon seems to be always select GBP as they convert at a crappy rate.

Usually the Amazon currency convertor is more expensive than whatever your credit card provider charges to convert Euros to GBP.

I generally use xe.com to get an idea of what the interbank rates are but you will usually need to add a little more as the banks won't give you the full interbank rate.

Cost me €54.55 after paying in GBP... Just showed up in my statement online.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,779 ✭✭✭dmcg90

Also, just informed by Amazon that it'll take 24 hours for the code to be automatically applied to your account.

I didn't get the promo code but by following the link in the OP got the button 'Click to qualify for the promotion code'. Clicking on that was told I was eligible (I didn't get the offer last time) and I proceeded to buy a £40 gift card. I realize that the £10 promotional code won't arrive until one day after my purchase, but thought I would get an automatic email confirming that I would be getting the code. I suppose it's just wait and see.

Did anyone receive their promo code today?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭machalla

I bought a gift card on wednesday evening and no sign of the promo code so far. I did come up as eligible and no sign of an email in a spam folder. So they don't seem to be too speedy about getting them out.

Just got an email from amazon with my promo code.

You add the promo code into the promo code box when checking out (rather than adding it as a gift card).

I qualified for this , selected the gift card option. When I went to check out they were adding 6 GBP for p&P to post out a card and voucher. Just went back to select the email option and there is a voucher for 30 GBP and 50 GBP but no 40 GBP.

Thinking you are bleary-eyed :) There's an option to type any amount you wish.

Yup, no direct offer but was shown I qualified via the link in the OP, ordered yesterday and received my £10 code just now.

No direct offer here either but link showed that I qualified. I ordered an e-giftcard on Thursday but still haven't received the £10 code.

I went through my emails and had a look around the Amazon site before I ordered, just to make sure I didn't receive anything direct, no emails and noticed no banners on the site. The voucher came through pretty much spot on 24 hours after the gift card email was received for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭machalla

I eventually had to contact Amazon as I hadn't received the promo code. They added it to the account directly for me after that.

Just did online chat and they said they were adding GBP10 promo to my account. Only thing is that it doesn't appear under gift card balance. Was told that GBP10 would automatically be deducted from my next Fulfilled by Amazon order.

Yes, I put an order through and the £10 was applied at checkout.

Remember to use the £10 promotional code by the cut off date on your email. Mine is today's date so I just placed an order.

Thank you for purchasing an Amazon.co.uk Gift Card. Now we're treating you to a £10 promotional claim code to spend on eligible products sold by Amazon on Amazon.co.uk. The promotion code must be used by 15 October 2015. This offer is subject to Terms and Conditions.
