Visiting IFA Berlin

Just wondering if anyone can been to the IFA in Berlin as I see it's open to the public unlike the CES in Vegas? I've obviously left it a bit late for this year but am thinking of going in 2016. Is it very crowded and would accommodation be very expensive/hard to come by?
