So I was browsing through the remaining weeks from the P&D book and noticed something odd, so I stuck the remaining weeks into a spreadsheet.
It seems I've run out of weeks to complete the plan! :D
I was on holidays and started the plan a week later than I should have by the looks of it so I need to ditch a week. I'm thinking the current week is maybe the one I should ditch as it's a recovery week, although I appreciate I may be running the risk of injury doing this? I'd also like to race a half marathon in Athlone and run Charleville at PMP.
So which of the following weeks training is the most dispensable? I'm such a clown. :pac:
The top row is what I'm currenty doing - which should have been last week.

    EDIT:
Just one other thing - I did 16 miles with 12 @ PMP on Sunday - if this makes any difference to ditching the recovery week?

I'm afraid you're going to have to ditch the week at the bottom.

    * just kidding.

I certainly wouldn't ditch the recovery week, especially on a P&D plan. But I'm conservative.

I would consider ditching the first week of the taper.

I'm no expert but I'd probably do Weds, Thurs, and Friday of the 24/8 week and then do the Saturday and Sunday of the following week. That way you still get a bit of recovery this week but you also get in the 20 mile LSR on Sunday. After that, you're back on schedule!

    Thanks folks.

Just looking back I actually missed a run last week due to work which brought the mileage down to 43 miles (the same as this weeks recovery mileage) but as I mentioned - it did include a tough MP session on Sunday.

What I'm thinking I might do now is a mixture of the 2 weeks this week, i.e. the recovery + the week I should have been doing. So:

    Tue - 8 miles aerobic
    Wed - 8 miles w/ 5 X 800m
    Thu - 5 miles recovery
    Fri - 9 miles easy
    Sat - Rest
    Sunday - 20 mile LSR

That would give me a 50 mile week with a 20 mile LSR and some sort of quality with the intervals without killing myself. Would that be reasonable? I could then race the Athlone Half the following week and do Charleville the following week as my PMP session.

Sorry An_Reathai I had the page open and only saw this after I posted my reply! It looks like we had a similar idea. Hopefully this will bring me back into line and I think I might get away with it.

Just a tip, make a copy and put a line through each one you do. I have made this mistake a few times too. No big deal.

You cant drop any recovery weeks IMO.
Keep this week as is or you'll risk not adapting your body from Sundays key 12 mile pace run. That pace run is not in the bag yet, and is nothing without the recovery.

I would consider dropping one of the weeks of the 8-15k tune up races preferably the 2nd one (week of 21/9). The first one will sharpen you a bit for the next few weeks. If you need to you could alter the session of wed (week of 28/9). Perhaps make it a 5k controlled race/time trial (run the last 2k controlled, not flat out).
Or just leave the session as is. Err on the side of caution.
