Degree grading

Just wondering if anybody knows about honours degree grades being rounded up?

Just found out that my final degree grade is 69.93% and a little sickened. Thought that they would have just been sound and given me the 1.1. I know several people in other universities where that has been the case.

Anybody have any experience with this? I generally find that staff refuse to engage when asked about this sort of stuff.

I'd say it is possible to get 69.4% average, or 69.6%, and be awarded a First.

Are you sure that you weren't awarded a First?

You would need to read the Marks and Standards.

Well if the only thing to go by is the online results, then no, I wasn't given the first.
Marks and standards seems fairly clear that its 70+ % though

I would definitely talk to someone in the College Office about this. However, the fact that the College Board meetings have taken place by now makes me think that it may be a done deal. However, I would still pursue this.

If you've only just found out I assume that you had deferred exam(s)? If that's the case the details on discussing/rechecking or appealing your results are here
You have until September 14th. If you recheck/appeal you might gain the extra marks you need to reach 70%

As it is your final year, you should get a transcript of the results in the post. These are usually received a day or two after the online results. It states your overall score on this and also whether it is explicitly a first class.
I'm thinking though that it will be listed as a second. Get appealing...
