Can anybody recommend a mtb club to join? Mad and Epic are the two i heard of but is there any difference between them? Are they for hardcore riders or more casual?
Ive been on most of the Coillte trails but not the other unofficial ones and i suppose a club is the best way to find the others. Based in Dublin but dont mind travelling for trips.

Giant Bike Store Dublin have a wee run out with beginners. There's IMBRC too.

Both! I can't speak for other clubs, but there's all kinds of riders in MAD. There's usually multiple spins each week and these are roughly categorised as Easy, Medium or Fast indicating the skill and fitness level required. There's also a monthly intro spin for anyone thinking about joining.

I joined MAD earlier in the year, and couldn't recommend them highly enough. Had a couple of great spins with them - found them very friendly and supportive, but other commitments have been keeping me off the trails, unfortunately.

The "natural" trails are a whole new ball game compared to the built trails, in my experience anyway! Going with a club lets you know where they are, but also give you tips and encouragement for riding them.

EPIC have a beginners spin this Saturday, so if you're interested in MTB'ing it couldn't be easier to get involved: www.facebook.com/EPICMTBDublin

I've yet to meet an unwelcoming MTB club, speaks volumes for the people in the scene in Ireland! Great sport to be involved in
