Hi all im hopefully heading into glas next year
I have two fields that have a fair few thistles in them and its probably my last chance to spray them
Would I be wasting time and money doing it now, if I dont I wont be able to do it for years?,

I'm in the same boat. I've a few streaks of rushes and thistles but will spray in the spring. Going to top them for the winter. Better in the spring.

Yes but I wonder if you got accepted into the scheme before christmas could you get an inspection in the spring
Would you be in trouble then

They are only in patches. if i top now, I can spray them next spring after inspection. Maybe weed licker? It's not a priority anyway. Subs come first.

Would think it would be bit of a waste of time doing anything with thistles now....they are in the dying stage.

With Glas are you not allowed spray rushes/thistles /briars etc?

Depends what scheme you pick and what designations your land has if any. To answer the OP - probably a waste of time spraying them now as they've already gone to seed and will be dieing back anyway over the coming weeks

I dont think your allowed to spray aren't you supposed to have 4 different types of weeds or wild flower
    I could be very wrong

Your allowed to spot spray noxious weeds ie: thistles, docks, rushes, ragwort ect. Not allowed blanket spray. Weed licker is OK though.
