Hey, I'm new to this and hope I'm using it right. I bought a timing belt kit and water pump with the intentions of doing it myself. Unfortunately with the way I'm working I won't get a chance to do it. Does anybody know how much the labour would roughly cost in a garage? It's a '04 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.3 petrol. Not a major job on these engines. Thanks in advance guys

To be honest a lot of mechanics prefer to source parts themselves.
If crap hits the fan they want to know that the parts they used are solid.
This is not a major issue if the parts you have are OEM, but you still need to ring around and check that supplied parts are ok.

Try 3/4 different places and ask if they accept supplied parts and get quotes, then go with the whoever you see recommended on boards somewhere :)

Yeah that's what I feared. It is understandable. I didn't think I'd be looking for quotes to do it but don't have the time to do it myself. Thanks for the reply. Been a great help

I was told it was 3 hours labor when I had mine done last week, so depending on the rate go with that.

Ofc this no doubt varies by make and model
