Hi, just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. My 08 Passat needs all its bushes replaced after getting main dealer service done. They are quoting 362 for it. Does that sound right or should I go to an indy for it.
What would I be.looking at for it? Need all the pads replaced too 220 for them....

Currently 60% off Bosch Brake Pads on misterauto.ie. €33 for front pads and around the same for the rear. Throw a bottle of Dot5.5 Brake Fluid if that needs a flush and you should get it all done for around €120 with an indy. Its a 30 minute job on a ramp.

As for your bushings. Front Bushings are a pig but they can be replaced and cost around €40 for a set of bushes. Again it would be cheaper to go to your local independent mechanic for this work.

Why would you bring a 7 year old car to a main dealer? No advantage bringing a car of that age to a main dealer.

Get a second opinion and price from an independent garage.

Thanks, bought it to dealer as had a loyalty voucher for 130 quid off. Last time I'll be in there now.... Last service from them was about 18 months ago and told me front bushes were cracked and would fail nct, it didn't. So might leave bushes again as I haven't noticed any noise or anything, should I?

But pads do feel a little lighter. 80+90% gone they said.
Yea, don't have a mechanic I know so will try around. Would an indy be happy for me to give parts in hand and just to fit.
I actually phoned advance pitstop in Galway about pads out of curiosity. Asked had it an electric handbrake and said 245.....

Front bushes on one of these are about the easiest to do of any car.

Just in relation to passat bushes, whoever fits them, get genuine ones as at least that way it will be a lasting job.
The bushes are cheap anyway so paying all the labour and maybe fiting a sh1t part is a disaster.
