If you take a career break in public service can you take up permanent role with other public service organisation?

    I don't think so

If you've already taken the career break have a look at the conditions you have signed. If not could you ask someone who is out on a career break? I presume you don't want to broach the subject with your HR?

The dper circular allows civil servants (narrower focus than public servants) a career break only to the private and not the public sector so I'd imagine the same conditions would apply for you.

Read your career break contract. It depends.

Older ones probably say no. Newer ones might... _MIGHT_ say yes.

    What Slydice says.
The rule is you are not allowed to work in the public sector while on career break- however- I have heard of people being allowed (the civil service and the HSE appear to be a lot less flexible than other PS organisations).
