Renovating old leather jacket

Got an ancient brown leather 3/4 length jacket which I love but it is looking a bit worse for wear now and it's never been cleaned. It's a matt style leather (looks a bit like nubuck, but it's not) not the shiny stuff.

    Seen this in Supervalu:-

Was thinking it could be a cheap and cheerful solution if it's just as simple as applying it then leaving to dry and that's it. Obviously would test on a hidden area first.

Am I on the right lines or are there alternatives? I suspect getting it done professionally would be huge money but apart from that I just fancy having a go myself.
