Hi, I'm currently looking at a first time car at 30.. Yes 30. I had started driving when I was younger but moved to London mid twenties and never needed one. Now I'm back I was trying to get a 1 litre but I'm now also looking at 1.1 even if the road tax is more expensive yet the car is cheaper. I have found a Peugeot 206 for €785, NCT March next year with 105,000 miles. Does this seem like a good deal? Or too good. I'm thinking of paying a mechanic to go with me or just buy it because I'd really only be at a loss of that amount if there was something really wrong. My dad died two years ago and I don't really have anyone who would know stuff about cars.

I'm desperate for one for work as I end up paying a fortune in taxis, how reliable is done deal for buying cars? Sorry for loads of question, I have not seen the car in person just pictures yet but plan to see it, anything I should really look out for? the car is year 00 thank you :)

It all depends on how the car was maintained. I would think that a peugot 206 is not going to be the most reliable machines on the road even a well minded one. But by the looks of it the price reflects this. I'd much rather buy a 1.25 petrol fiesta over the 206, more reliable overall. Just watch out for rust on them.

If you don't know anything about cars ask a mechanic for prices to check a car out before you do anything. It should be something they do often enough.

As for how reliable donedeal is. You're not buying from donedeal, so I wouldn't but much weight on opinions on the site. But if you're buying off a small time trader then they most likely know little about the cars history.

Ha that's what I was thinking. It seems quite cheap but I could stretch to1300. But only if I go one litre. Cheaper tax etc! I just find it hard to figure out what's best, I will look at fiesta and see if there is anything about.also I guess I wouldn't mind if th car went in 6 months just so I could have something for when I'm working, I know if I go quite cheap might be able to stretch it for that time period. Then my second car il spend quite a bit for a nice one.
