Vu+ box, Solo2 or Duo2?

That's the old Duo you've linked to, that'd be a bit slower, but not much.

What are you hoping to do with the box, I've had the Ultimo, Duo and Solo2, I'd say the Solo2 would be my preference but the Ultimo would have the most functionality, I ended up giving a friend the Duo.

There's a handy table here that shows the different functionality/specs of all the boxes

Ack, brain fart moment I had. I was looking at the comparison table at the Duo² but then looking at the price for the original Duo..... That's why things didn't quite make sense lol.

I was looking to buy a Solo² but then thought that the Duo² was on offer cheaper, but in fact it is the Duo that is cheaper. Oooopsy.

Thanks Clareman. All I want is a box that does tv through a dish and that can also do the likes of Kodi, recording is a preference too. I'll probably go for the Solo² as I'm familiar with it from putting one in for my brother, cracking box I thought.

As a Solo 2 owner and a complete and utter clueless amateur, I can safely recommend this box (if my recommendation holds any merit! :)). I just purchased one for someone else too and helped them get it set up.

Both boxes were purchased from Satnet in Estonia. Both boxes are 100% genuine and brand new. Satnet seem to have really good prices and customer service was top as well.

    Hope that helps. :)

If you are looking for Kodi I'd recommend the Solo2 as this would have better hardware and Kodi can be a bit of a hog for resources.

I don't know who sells them in Ireland. I did read something a while ago that a buyer said they were concerned their box wasn't genuine. I forget where I saw that.

I preferred to pay the postage for a genuine item and Satnet appeared to have a good rep in my research. They sold me 2 genuine boxes and thats peace of mind for me. Delivery was super fast and customer service great too.

If a Solo 3 was released etc I'd check Satnet first. I'm no plant for them, just passing on my experience with them so folks don't get stung with fake goods and lose their money. :)

    Hi thanks for advice.

Googled this morning who sell them in Ireland.
2 companies so far one satworld.ie in Dublin but expensive! But genuine. That's good.

Second satexperts.ie based in Dublin Swords

Actualy price where same as satnet.
Guy said they do delivery or can be colected in person.

They sell all Vu+ boxes and all Original.
Also they said they source them from Official Vu+ distributor in Uk.
So I ordered one online see how fast I get it.Delivery was only 8euro.

I.am sure satexperts.ie is swords satellite rebranded if so i for one can vouch for this guy as me & mates have got solo2s and about 5 vu zero,s so far now off them .

Going to get duo2 soon off him hopefully if her indoors lets me get another new toy.

And if you goto baliexpress type in solo2 and you will see all the clones makes and models pictures of the motherboards and you will see what to avoid so you don.t ever get stung with a clone .

The one in the link i say is the Sunray v1 or v2 clone running original software because of recent firmware update from the sim2team .

They will have a yellow sticker on the back but a lot of sellers will not show this or they wlll use original pic,s of the solo2 to fool people and that site would be the last place i would look for a vu solo2 original box .

And vu solo3 is a clone of the solo se and theres solo2se clone from lonrisun ?running original software aswell don,t be fooled by these sellers.

To be honest in the link the box is 176 euro for a extra 100 euro you could have a original box with 1 year warranty if anything goes wrong .

Have a look at this thread some good deals on boxes posted by boardies .

xtrend from hmsat is great value, shipping is €7 to ireland.

I kind of thought it was. I have a solo2 I bought off satkontor and I'd like another but at €267 delivered they are a wee bit pricey.

Got one of these last week for a friend and it matches my Duo2 in every way except for the Transcoding. I've streamed SD channels over the net and they work ok, HD isn't great but apart from that its an excellent box and the saorview works perfect on the dvb-t2 tuner with a full epg.

Do you notice any difference between the picture quality ,primarily sd on the two receivers ?

I didn't really notice any difference but I didn't have the 2 boxes on the same tv. I setup the xtrend on my friends tv in his house and the picture was the same quality as my duo2. Both tv's are 32" so maybe on bigger screens any difference would be more noticeable.

Ok ,thanks ,32 inch is probably too small to notice any real difference to be honest.
