I was wondering if there's a way to find out the results of old court cases.

A relative of mine died almost twenty years ago and two men were charged with his death. I was a child at the time and never really learned what happened, just that there was some prison time involved. It's not discussed in our family anymore so I'd like to find out what happened myself, if possible, just to satisfy my own curiosity. Does such a database exist? Obviously I'm only interested in information in the public domain.
