    Hi all,

I am looking to get Atovaquone and Proguanil the generic version of malarone for travels I have planned to SE Asia. We start in Thailand so wont need them for there but will need them for Laos, Cambodia and possibly Vietnam. In total I will be buying about 50-80 tablets. I know its a lot but that's what I need.

I do not want to get Doxycycline even though I know it is cheaper as there is a history of allergic reaction to it in my family.

So I am just wondering does anyone know the best(cheapest) place to get Atovaquone and Proguanil in Dublin?

    Thanks!!

Price doesn't really come into it. It's more a case of where can you get it. It can be very difficult to track down as demand often outstrips supply so you'll probably end up buying it from whoever has stock. I believe you'll need a prescription too.

Thanks Traprunner I didnt even think of that.

I have a script as I had to get vaccinations at the travel health clinic and they provide Malaria prescriptions too.

The only other advice I could give you now is to call different pharmacies to ask about stock and price. Don't do what I did and waste half a day going to almost every chemist in Dublin :D

Great advice :D Just out of curiosity where did you end up getting them and how much were they?

I can't remember how much they were. It was back in February and Boots on Grafton Street were the only place that had them. Not one of the other Boots had them in stock.
