    Hi,

We are planning to start a badminton Club in Lucan/Palmerstown area and play the league and Cups.
    Some observations:
    1) Courts seem to be very expensive at all places. 4 courts for 2 hours is 75 EUR +.
    2) Does anyone know a cheap place to source Yonex AS 30?

    All help/pointers highly appreciated.

    regards

For a 4 court hall I would say it is ideal to get about 16-18 players/members, that way each player will sit out on average twice a night, which would be the norm. If you charge €7 per night you will take in about €112 for example. That should cover your hall and shuttle costs and leave you with money left over.

BI do a deal on Carlton shuttles at the start of the season which would be worth contacting them about. Just as good as the AS30 but cheaper.

What divisions are you looking to enter? Any other questions just shout.

I dunno, I'd have said that number is way too low to be thinking of a 4-court hall. During the season if you have matches you'll have lots of players playing away or potentially not down if they played away the night before etc. I'd be thinking target 30+ members assuming you have the hall more than one night? For shuttles there's a supplier in Cork (can't remember details) who was sourcing them cheap enough. Keep an eye online too - I've gotten very good value from Millets and sportsworld during sales to pick up boxes of AS30. I had a thread on that a while back if you do a search.

In terms of venues have you contacted all schools within the area? Some schools will hire out their sports hall (that's how we currently play), especially if members are parents of students or former students etc.

Best of luck for your first season anyway!
